Marjoriet Matute

Marjoriet Matute is a cancer survivor who made a promise to give back—and she has kept that promise. Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at just 17 years old, Marjoriet faced a year of intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments starting in 1999. As a high school junior, her life was abruptly altered, filled with uncertainties and challenges. After completing her treatment in July 2000, she returned for her senior year as a profoundly transformed individual.

During her hospital journey, Marjoriet saw firsthand the struggles of children and parents coping with serious illnesses. She witnessed her own parents navigating financial and emotional hurdles with the support of hospital staff and volunteers, a generosity for which Marjoriet remains deeply grateful.

Inspired by those experiences, Marjoriet founded Devin & Tristan Give Back (DTGB), a platform designed to motivate communities to take part in meaningful giving. DTGB hosts fun, accessible opportunities for families and individuals to get involved without breaking the bank. From organizing events, fundraisers, and donation drives to spotlighting critical causes like cancer, lupus, autism, and domestic abuse, DTGB fosters awareness and community spirit while encouraging everyone to participate in the act of giving.

As a busy mom of two, Marjoriet juggles more than most. Between her 9-to-5 role at a popular golf course, where she blends her hospitality skills with her culinary background, and raising her two energetic boys, Devin and Tristan, Marjoriet remains at the helm of DTGB. She also attends social networking events across New York City, always eager to expand her organization’s impact and connect with like-minded individuals.

In the midst of her packed schedule, Marjoriet continues to write as a frequent contributor to Huffington Post and CNN. Fueled by her passion for giving back, she finds the time, energy, and resources to ensure DTGB’s ongoing success and remains confident that its influence will continue to grow and inspire. With her unwavering commitment to making a difference, Marjoriet exemplifies what it means to transform challenges into opportunities to help others.
